Five upcoming scooters to watch out for in 2022
Electric vehicles are trending as people are gradually shifting from conventional ICE scooters to these new-age vehicles. The reasons could be many apart from rising fuel prices and pollution, but Indian brands like Tata, Bajaj, TVS, Ather, Ola and Hero have started showing significant growth in the EV segment. In this article, we will discuss five upcoming scooters to watch out for in 2022.
Hero Electric AE-8
Hero Electric had unveiled the AE-8 electric scooter at the Auto Expo 2020. Hero did not reveal the entire specification sheet but had announced that the scooter would get a top speed of 25kmph and a range of 80km which sounds quite realistic for a budget electric scooter. The scooter gets full LED headlight and a fully digital instrument console. Vibrant exterior colors will also be offered as an option on the Hero Electric AE-8. The expected pricing of the Hero Electric AE-8 is Rs 70,000 (ex-showroom) with the launch expected to be around April 2022.
Five upcoming scooters in 2022 – Hero Electric AE-75
Hero Electric had showcased many products at the Auto Expo 2020. Another was the AE-75. This electric scooter is expected to see a launch in 2022. The brand claims that the AE-75 can reach top speeds of up to 55kmph and 80km of range with a fully-charged battery. The expected price of this electric scooter is around Rs 80,000 (ex-showroom).
Suzuki Burgman Electric
Suzuki will commence its EV journey with its popular scooter, the Burgman Electric in India. The upcoming electric scooter is production-ready and was recently spotted testing in Pune. In terms of design, the Burgman Electric looks similar to Burgman Street. The motor powering this scooter will generate around 4kW of power and is expected to deliver a realistic range of 90km when on a full charge. This scooter gets a telescopic fork, disc brake, and 12-inch alloy wheels in the front with twin shock absorbers, and a 10-inch wheel with a drum brake in the rear. The expected price of Suzuki Burgman Electric is expected to be around Rs 1.20 lakh (ex-showroom).
Honda PCX Electric
The PCX is an electric scooter from Honda. The electric motor on this scooter generates 5.6bhp & 18Nm of torque. The Honda PCX gets disc brakes in the front and rear along with tubeless tyres and alloy wheels. The expected price of the Honda PCX electric is around Rs 1.45 lakh (ex-showroom) and launch is expected around April 2022.
Five upcoming scooters in 2022 – KTM Electric Scooter
KTM is planning to develop an electric scooter with the help of Bajaj. This upcoming scooter from KTM will be based on the KISKA design that influences its modern lineup. The scooter is expected to get a partially exposed trellis frame, sharp and minimalistic bodywork, large orange wheels, and chunky tyres. The KTM electric scooter will be powered by the same electric motor that is used in the Bajaj Chetak electric scooter. The 4kW BLDC electric motor will deliver a top speed of 120kmph and a large battery pack could help with a realistic range of around 80km with a full charge. The expected price of this scooter is expected to be around Rs 1.75 lakh (ex-showroom) and launch is expected in the second half of 2022.
