Jawa is a brand that has remained true to its roots when it comes to retro-styled motorcycles. In 2018 Jawa launched three motorcycles, the Jawa 42, Standard, and the Perak, these bikes soon became popular. Jawa is planning to expand its portfolio and add new bikes to its product lineup. We recently got spy shots of what seems like another Jawa bike that could be a direct rival to the Royal Enfield Meteor doing its test sprints. In this article, we will discuss what the Jawa Meteor competition from the brand looks like and what it has to offer.

Jawa Design

Jawa 42 facelift

Retro-styled design is the key feature in Jawa bikes. Round headlamp and rearview mirrors, comfortable wide seat, broad rear fender, tear-drop shaped fuel tank, and turn signals. The taillamp and the rear fender seem to have an all-new design. The new bike that’s been tested by Jawa seems to have similar dimensions as the 42. This Jawa Meteor competition could be sharing the same platform as the 42, but there will be some re-work to this new cruiser bike. As per the spy shots, the pillion seat seems to be longer than other Jawa currently on sale. The rear twin-shock suspension setup is set at an angle when compared to the Jawa 42. The dual exhaust looks similar to the Jawa 42 as well. Some parts were visible in the spy shot that resemble the 42. The new Jawa bike has an upright seating position with raised wide handlebars and forward-set footpegs. The long and wide seat seems comfortable for riders and pillion for long rides. We can expect a semi-digital instrument console with Bluetooth connectivity.

Specification

Jawa 42 facelift

This new bike that was spotted testing could be a cruiser from Jawa and could get the same 334cc engine that is currently available on the Perak. The 334cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled BS6 compliant petrol engine produces 30bhp and 32.74 nm of torque mated to a six-speed manual gearbox. The bike will get the standard telescopic forks at the front and dual rear shock absorbers with disc brakes in front and rear. We expect the bike to get options of alloy wheels and spoke wheels to choose from, dual-channel ABS, and Bluetooth connectivity. This new bike from Jawa will be launched at a competitive price point where it will rival other 350cc bikes from Royal Enfield and the upcoming 400cc Bajaj Avenger.
