The Honda City is a car that remains to rule the mid-sized sedan segment in India. Things might look different as a new rival is just around the corner. German carmaker Volkswagen is about to launch its mid-sized sedan against the Honda City. In this article, we will discuss what the Volkswagen Virtus has to offer when it is launched in India. While this is the main car that it will have to contend with, the Slavia and the new generation Verna will also be getting ready to attack Honda’s most important product in India – the City.

The new sedan from theVolkswagen will be based on the MQB A0 platform. The Volkswagen Virtus is said to be bigger than the currently available Vento. The Sedan stands 4482mm in length, 1751mm in width, 1472mm in height with a wheelbase of 2651mm. The bigger dimensions will result in better cabin space. The Volkswagen Virtus will offer better legroom, knee room, shoulder room, and headroom in the cabin. New headlamps, fog lamps, tail lamps, and a smaller grille are prominent features that will be seen on the new Volkswagen Virtus.

Volkswagen Virtus Specifications

The Virtus will be sharing the same platform MQBA0IN that is currently used for Taigun. Along with the platform, the engine is also shared with the new Virtus. The current Vento gets a 110bhp 1.0-litre TSI turbo-petrol engine. A larger 1.5-litre TSI engine that produces 150bhp and 250Nm of torque will also be offered. The 1.0litre TSI engine will be offered with a six-speed manual and a six-speed torque converter automatic transmission. While the 1.5-litre TSI engine is expected to get a seven-speed DSG automatic gearbox similar to Taigun.

Features

The Volkswagen Virtus will be launched in India to replace the Vento. The car will get features that we currently see in the Volkswagen Taigun. The Virtus is expected to get a similar eight-inch digital instrument cluster called the digital cockpit. A big ten-inch infotainment system, wireless mobile charging, connected car technology, keyless entry, ventilated seats, and automatic climate control. An electric sunroof and ambient lighting are also expected to be offered in the new Virtus. VW will make sure to differentiate some aspects and features from its sibling, the Slavia.
