The sedan segment has been facing a downward trend since the SUV craze has taken over the market. Though SUVs have their benefits like high ground clearance on our bad roads, still sedans will always remain the aspirational body type. Sedans offer the most car-like experience with great comfort and driving dynamics. The Honda City is an iconic car in the Indian market. However the City needs some updates to combat the upcoming Skoda Slavia and SUVs. To that effect, Honda is working on a facelift for the City. In today’s article, we will see three major updates on the 2022 Honda City.

Hybrid

Rising fuel prices have forced people to give a lot of attention to mileage figures. Honda has the City hybrid variant in foreign markets and is expected to bring it to India in 2022. This hybrid setup in the City will consist of two electric motors and an internal combustion engine. One electric motor will assist the engine while the second will send power to the wheels. The Honda City hybrid is expected to give a mileage of 30kmpl.

Diesel automatic

The City comes with both petrol and diesel engine options but it comes with an automatic gearbox only in its petrol variants. Automatic gearboxes have become quite popular in recent times due to our crowded city conditions. Also, considering City’s 1.5-litre diesel engine offers great performance, it needs an automatic gearbox. Even the Honda Amaze with the same engine comes with a CVT gearbox. So the 2022 Honda City should surely get a diesel automatic option.

2022 Honda City features

The Honda City already comes loaded with features. However when compared to C-segment SUVs and other sedans like Verna & upcoming Slavia, it does lack some features. In this 2022 update, Honda may give it an electronic parking brake and ventilated seats. Another thing Honda might update could be the infotainment system with an improved user interface. There are chances that Honda might give it Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) considering it is quickly becoming the norm in this segment.
