Kawasaki have launched the Versys 650 tourer motorcycle at INR 7.26 lakhs (on-road). This is the lower capacity version of the currently sold Versys 1000 in the country. The Versys 650 combines a long travel suspension and 17-inch sporty alloy wheels and will offer an affordable option for storing bike customers.

The Versys 650 has a 649cc, liquid-cooled, 4 stroke parallel-twin engine that develops 68bhp of power at 8500rpm and 64Nm of torque at 7500rpm. The Versys 650 is the third bike is Kawasaki’s line up to bear this engine, the others being the Ninja 650 and the ER-6n. The bike is 2156mm long, 840mm wide and 1400mm in height. It has a verb weight of 216kgs and a ground clearance of 170mm. The Versys has a fuel tank capacity of 21 litres. The bike also features ABS.

The engine of the Versys 650 is tuned for low & mid-range revs rather than top end make for a versatile touring machine. The upright riding position coupled with a well-cushioned seats ensure that the long rides are comfortable enough. The Versys 650 is based on the chassis of the Ninja 650R and the ER-6n and also shares the powertrain, brakes, wheels and electronics.

Yoshitaka Tamura, Managing Director, India Kawasaki Motors said, “With this engine, with this chassis, I’m sure these models are an excellent offer to the market in India. There are some other models coming with the same mission as these. I’m sure they can also bring another level of fun and excitement to this market.”

The Versys 650 makes for a suitable touring motorcycle in India and cater to the growing touring community. It will be brought in as a CKD unit and assembled in India.
