Toyota has been quite silent in the Indian market. Since it collaborated with Maruti, it has been launching only rebadged products. But this is soon going to change with upcoming products from Toyota. Toyota and Maruti are collaborating on various products to shake up the market. Toyota is also bringing its global cars like Hilux to India. We have obtained exclusive spy shots of the Hilux and Corolla Cross in India during transportation. What was spotted?

Hilux and Corolla Cross

The Toyota Hilux and Corolla Cross were spotted on transportation vehicles in Bihar. The vehicles were most probably being transported to dealerships before the upcoming launch. The truck consisted of at least four Hilux’. While the other truck consisted of four Corolla Cross’. From the images, it seems to be the base model of the Hilux as it comes with steel wheels and black cladding. While the Corolla Cross does come with alloy wheels.

Toyota’s plan with Hilux

The Hilux has been rumoured for a long time in India. But now there are concrete talks that Toyota might launch it in January of 2022. So the spotting of the Hilux makes it even more likely for a launch in the next month. Hilux will be a niche product as the demand for pickups is not that high in India. But with Toyota’s entry, other manufacturers might also enter in the future.

Plan with Corolla Cross

The spotting of the Corolla Cross is an unexpected one as Toyota has never hinted about it in the past. Dimensions wise, the Corolla Cross sits between the C-segment SUVs and mid-size SUVs with a length of 4460mm. So it remains to be seen which segment will Toyota target with the Corolla Cross. Considering it is working with Maruti for a C-segment SUV, this could be its mid-size SUV rival.
