Honda Cars to increase prices upto INR 16,000

Honda Cars India will be increasing the prices of its vehicles across all models to tune of INR 16,000. This increase will come in effect from January 2016.

The reason cited by Honda for the price increase are the rising input costs. Honda joins hands with several other manufacturers like Nissan, Renault, Tata Motors and Skoda who will be increasing prices from January.

Honda Cars senior vice-president (Marketing and Sales) Jnaneswar Sen, said, “We will hike prices in the range of Rs 10,000-16,000 from January, depending on the model.

The price increase has been necessitated on account of increase in input costs.”

The Honda range of cars include its entry level Brio hatchback, right unto their premium SUV, the CR-V. The price of these vehicles range between INR 4.8 lakhs and INR 27 lakhs (on-road, Delhi). It is believed that such announcements around this time of the year is a prevalent practice that helps manufacturers clear inventories that would accumulate due to the model year change.
