2022 Kia Seltos – What will it get?
The Kia Seltos changed the game when it came to India. It single-handedly established the Kia brand in the Indian market. It continues to bring in good sales for the brand but still, it is facing tough competition from the newer cars in its segment. The Seltos did get an update in 2021, but it needs a proper facelift to take on the competition. In today’s article, we will see the 2022 Kia Seltos.
2022 Kia Seltos design
The design is one of the major USPs of the Seltos. So we don’t expect Kia to fiddle much with the design. Kia might give it some subtle changes like new bumpers, different headlight positioning and new alloys to differentiate the facelift from the current model. Kia might add some new colours. Another addition could be a panoramic sunroof like the Hyundai Creta. Dimensions will remain the same as the current model.
Interiors & Features
Kia will be looking to give the interiors some changes. It will get an updated dashboard layout with a bigger touchscreen and electronic parking brake. We could see UVO get the Hindi language in its voice assists for convenience. Other added features could be a Panoramic sunroof and a wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay in the top variants. Kia might also give the Seltos ADAS functionality to take on the competition. Kia already offers ADAS on the Seltos sold in the US.
2022 Kia Seltos specifications
Considering this a facelift, we expect Kia to retain the same engine options. The Seltos comes with two petrol engines and one diesel engine option. The first petrol engine is a 1.5-litre capable of producing 113bhp and 144Nm of torque. While the second petrol engine is a 1.4-litre turbo capable of producing 138bhp and 242Nm of torque. The diesel engine is a 1.5-litre capable of producing 113BHP and 250Nm of torque. All the engines come with a manual and various type of automatic gearboxes.
Pricing and launch
Currently, the pricing of the Seltos starts from Rs 11.64 lakh and goes to Rs 21.81 lakh (on-road, Mumbai). With the added features and updated design Kia will increase the price by 50-60k in the facelifted model. The Creta facelift is expected to hit the markets in the middle of 2022.
