Recently Indian Autos blog has conducted an interview with the Global Director of Business Development, UM International LLC, Mr. Juan Villegas. We get insight of the company’s plans on development into emerging markets.

UM International LLC plans to start manufacturing and selling their cruiser segment, in which they have expertise, in India.  They would also export them to other emerging markets like Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bangladesh and eventually in the future to Asia and Latin American countries as well. Sport bikes will come with the second phase of their Indian expansion plans.

They are going to be very aggressive with the Indian Sub Continent. They target a production capacity of 3000 units per month by the end of 2016. Of this figures exports should be around 10-15% and the rest will be for local consumption. This considering their products that come under the category of premium motorcycles is an uphill task for them. They currently have a plant that has enough capacity for their first three phases of expansion after which they would have to expand their production capabilities.

They are also busy developing their second wave of products of which a few they plan to launch at the 2016 Auto Expo. Stay tuned for more updates.
