Should you buy Celerio AMT over Tiago AMT?
Recently Maruti launched the new generation of its tall boy hatchback – the Celerio. We thought of comparing the AMT variant of the Celerio with another popular product in the same segment, the Tata Tiago (AMT variant). In this article, we will discuss what both cars offer in their AMT variants and which one should you consider.
Celerio AMT over Tiago AMT Dimensions
The new Maruti Celerio is 3695mm in length, 1655mm in width, 1555mm in height with a wheelbase of 2435mm. The Tata Tiago on the other hand is 3765mm in length, 1677mm in width, and 1535mm in height with a wheelbase of 2400mm. Tata Tiago is slightly longer and wider than the Maruti Celerio. This will result in better legroom and shoulder room in the Tata Tiago.
Celerio AMT over Tiago AMT Safety
Maruti Celerio has not been tested so for the Global NCAP crash test. While Tata Tiago scores a four-star safety rating at the Global NCAP. The car is trusted for its build quality and safety standards in the entry-level hatchback segment.
Engine
The Maruti Celerio gets a 998cc K10C petrol engine that produces 66bhp and 89Nm of torque mated to a five-speed AMT gearbox. The Tata Tiago gets a more powerful and bigger engine. It gets a 1.2-litre Revotron petrol engine that produces 85bhp and 113 Nm of torque mated to a five-speed AMT gearbox. Maruti cars are known to be fuel-efficient, the new Maruti Celerio has a claimed mileage of 25.23 (ARAI certified) while Tata Tiago claims a mileage of 23.84 (ARAI certified) for its AMT variant.
Features
When it comes to features, Tata Tiago seems to be slightly better. The car gets ESP (Electronic Stability Program), six-way manually adjustable front row seats, dual-tone interiors (black and grey), follow me headlamps, digital instrument cluster. While the new Maruti Celerio gets ABS with EBD, hill hold control, four-way manually adjustable front row seats, single tone interiors (black), and a semi-digital instrument cluster.
Competitive Pricing
The ZXi AMT variant of the new Maruti Celerio is priced at Rs 7.52 lakh (on-road, Mumbai). The Tata Tiago XTA Variant that also gets an AMT gearbox is priced at Rs 7.40 lakh (on-road, Mumbai). Both cars are products that offer good value for money and are priced very competitively in the entry-level hatchback segment. But overall the scales tip in the favour of the Tata Tiago AMT as the better choice here.
