Toyota to replace Urban Cruiser soon?
Toyota and Maruti-Suzuki are currently in a joint venture and are collaborating, building and sharing a lot of vehicles. One such car is Toyota Urban Cruiser and the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza. At present both these cars look the same. The Maruti Vitara Brezza is expected to get a new generation very soon. We expect Toyota to also bring in a new generation of Urban Cruiser. Both the cars will look different in their new generation to build their own identity. In this article, we will discuss what we can expect Toyota to offer in the new generation of Urban Cruiser.
The reason behind the update
As discussed, currently both, Urban Cruiser and Vitara Brezza look identical. Toyota will be looking to differentiate the Urban Cruiser in its new generation. The platform and engine will be shared by these cars but the exteriors and the interiors will undergo major changes. This strategy is followed by a lot of carmakers in India. (Renault Kiger –Nissan Magnite, Hyundai Venue- Kia Sonet, Hyundai Creta- Kis Seltos).
New Design
Recently images of Vitara Brezza have surfaced giving us a brief idea as to how the new generation Brezza would look. Similarly, the Toyota Urban cruiser will undergo changes and will carry traditional Toyota looks. The SUV is expected to get a big grille along with a different set of headlamps and tail lamps. It will also get new bumpers and fog lamps placed to look different from the Maruti Vitara Brezza. The rear end of the Urban Cruiser will get new bumpers and a different tailgate. When it comes to the interiors of the SUV, Toyota will offer a newly designed dashboard with a simple and ergonomic layout of buttons on the dashboard. Boot space and cabin storage will also be different for these two cars.
Different Yet Same
Maruti Vitara Brezza and Toyota Urban Cruiser, both cars will be based on the same platform. The new generation Maruti Vitara Brezza will be based on the Heartect platform, this same platform will be used for Toyota’s Urban Cruiser as well. Similar engine options will be shared between these two cars. There is a very high probability that these cars will get Maruti’s 1.5-litre engine with a proper hybrid system. The cars will also share most of their basic features.
