Toyota Rs 10 lakh SUV to recreate Qualis success?
The SUV segment is one of the fastest-growing segments in the Indian market. It is so popular that some manufacturers are only focusing on their SUV lineup. The C-segment SUV space is especially popular. So it is surprising that Maruti and Toyota both don’t offer any products in this segment. But Toyota is developing a C-segment SUV in collaboration with Maruti to rival the Hyundai Creta. In today’s article, we will discuss this Toyota Rs 10 lakh SUV.
Platform
This SUV will most likely be based on Toyota’s TNGA (Toyota New Global Architecture) platform. This platform underpins Toyota’s recent global launches. Toyota is yet to introduce this platform in India and this could be the perfect car to do it. This platform is also capable of different drivetrains like all-wheel drive, rear-wheel drive and front-wheel drive.

As mentioned above, Maruti and Toyota are collaborating on this SUV. Both these SUVs will be sharing their platforms and some design elements. Both these brands will however be giving unique touches to their respective products. Toyota will be giving it a more premium-looking design.
Engine specifications
It is hard to figure out which engine this SUV will get but it will most likely get Maruti’s 1.5-litre petrol engine coupled with a hybrid system from Toyota. Toyota might also offer a diesel engine in this car, the chances of which are however slim. Transmission options will include a five-speed manual gearbox, as well as an optional automatic gearbox.

Features have become an important selling point in this segment. So we expect Toyota to load this car with features like connected car tech, big infotainment system, electric sunroof, ambient lighting, 360-degree camera, front & rear parking sensors, ESP and multiple airbags.
Expected launch and pricing
There has been nothing official from Toyota regarding this new SUV but the car has been spotted testing a few times, so we expect it to launch somewhere around 2022-2023. The pricing of the car is expected to start from Rs 10 lakh (ex-showroom).
