Benelli Tornado 302R launched at ₹ 3.8 lakhs (on-road)

Benelli Tornado 302R has been launched at ₹ 3.8 lakhs (on-road). This is the latest bike from the Italian brand. Benelli had a slew of launches in the last two years, when it introduced various capacity motorcycles. The Tornado 302R is the first bike to be launched this year from Benelli.  This bike is the fully faired version of the TNT 300. The Tornado 302R is a good looking bike just like other Benellis that have attracted a lot of buyers solely on their looks.

The Benelli Tornado 302 is priced at ₹ 3.8 lakhs (on-road). The high price tag is due to the fact that this is twin cylinder bike. It directly competes with the Kawasaki Ninja 300 and the Yamaha R3, which are also a part of this segment. The TNT 300 has been doing decent numbers, however Indian buyers prefer full fairing and so Benelli has launched this bike to attract more enthusiast buyers. Those looking at the 300cc segment now have another option to explore.

Based on the TNT300, the Benelli Tornado 302 will get a full fairing. It looks attractive from all angles and has a stylish fairing. The Tornado 302 will share most of its components with the TNT 300, that includes the steel trellis frame, the 41mm inverted telescopic fork with 120 mm travel, the monoshock with 45 mm travel, the 260mm twin-disc brake at the front and the single-disc brake at the rear. The bike also comes with ABS as standard. A pair of Metzeler tyres measuring 110/70-ZR17 and 150/60-ZR17 in size will be doing duty on the Tornado 302.

• Red Nero

Benelli Tornado 302R Engine

The 300cc liquid-cooled in-line, twin-cylinder unit will power the Tornado 302. It is the same unit found on the TNT 300, which produces 38.2bhp at 11,500 rpm and 26.5Nm torque at 10,000 rpm. However, the Tornado will have a higher power output of 34bhp at 12,000 rpm. The torque will be 27Nm at 9,000 rpm. This engine will be mated to a six-speed gearbox. The bike also feature ABS. The engine is a very refined unit. It is smooth and pleasurable to ride.

The Benelli Tornado 302R comes in a segment which has not seen much success in India yet. The Yamaha R3 and the Kawasaki Ninja 300 are selling minuscule numbers, however, the Benelli could add some more flair to the segment and could attract more buyers.

Benelli Tornado 302R Top Speed

This new bike should have a top speed of about 170km/hr. This new bike has the same engine as the TNT 300i, which has been retuned. So, there isn’t a major difference in the top speed. In fact the gearing should be similar to the TNT itself, so these are same engines and chassis with a different body style and seating position.
