Skoda Kodiaq, the latest SUV from the Czech manufacturer will be launched next week. This is an all-new seven-seater SUV and the first one from Skoda. The Skoda Kodiaq is built on the MQB platform of Volkswagen. This SUV will be assembled in India itself. The Skoda Kodiaq will mainly compete with the Toyota Fortuner and the Ford Endeavour. It is expected to be a tough competitor to these established SUVs. The price of this SUV will be about Rs 34.49 lakhs (ex-showroom).

The Kodiaq is expected to be the new flagship of the Skoda in India.  The pricing is expected to be a little higher than the Skoda Superb. This SUV is based on Skoda’s new design language and thus looks attractive and contemporary. It is bigger is size and also longer than the Superb. Skoda has never made a big size SUV before and this is their first attempt. The Kodiaq is expected to be priced aggresively as it shares many parts of the MQB platform with other Volkswagen vehicles who use the same platform. There is quite a lot of cross sharing between this and the Volkswagen Tiguan. The Kodiaq will be available in a seven-seater version only and hence will target the Fortuner and Endeavour.

Skoda Kodiaq will come with a 2.0-litre diesel engine, which is smaller in size compared to its rivals. The engine has decent power. The power is around 148bhp and 340Nm of maximum torque. The engine specs do not seem high on paper, but the Kodiaq is a monocoque design and weighs lesser that its rivals. This engine is mated to a seven-speed DSG. This engine is being assembled in India and used on other vehicles of the Volkswagen family. The Skoda Kodiaq will be a spacious vehicle, just like other Skodas are. There will be seven seats seen in this flagship SUV and will offer good flexibility.
