Maruti Suzuki had a pretty quiet phase concerning new car launches. Finally, after months of leaks and teasers, Maruti has launched the new-generation Celerio. The pricing of the Celerio starts from Rs 4.99 lakh and goes to Rs 6.94 lakh (ex-showroom). The car can be booked for an amount of Rs 11,000. It will be offered in four variants viz LXI, VXI, ZXI and ZXI+. A manual gearbox will be standard in all variants, while an AMT gearbox will be available in the higher variants. The Celerio comes with six colour options- speedy blue, silky silver, solid fire red, glistening grey, caffeine brown and arctic white.

Exterior design

The new-generation gets a more curvy design than the previous generation. The front of the car gets an oval-shaped grille with chrome strips in the middle up to the Suzuki logo. It gets triangular-shaped halogen headlamps. The fog lamps are integrated into the black bumper, giving them a sporty look. The side profile also gets a lot of curvy design elements and 14-inch alloy wheels. At the rear, it gets squared of taillamps complimenting the front.   

Interior design

The car gets an all-new designed interior and looks very different from the current generation. It gets a black coloured dashboard with floating touchscreen infotainment in the middle. The infotainment screen is flanked by rectangular AC vents on both sides. Below this, it gets switches for the hazard lamps and door locks. The steering wheel and AC controls seem to borrow from the WagonR. The Instrument cluster is a manual one with a small circular digital display.

Heartect

The new-generation Celerio is based upon the Heartect platform. Maruti is claiming that this will make the Celerio safer than its predecessor. Engine-wise it will come with Maruti’s K10C 1.0-litre three-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine capable of producing 65bhp and 89nm of torque. Transmission options include a five-speed manual and an AMT gearbox. The Celerio is the most fuel-efficent petrol car in India with a mileage of 26.68km/l.

Features

Maruti has loaded the Celerio with features. It comes with features like a smart play infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, push-button start-stop, reverse parking camera, steering mounted controls, electrically adjustable mirrors and keyless entry. It comes with safety features like dual airbags, ABS+EBD and hill hold assist.
