New generation Rs 8 lakh car to change the segment?
The Maruti Vitara Brezza is one of the best selling cars in its segment. Though it is outdated it still competes with newer cars in its segment due to the Maruti badge. But Maruti is looking to bring its newer generation soon. In its newer generation, Maruti will look to continue its domination in the sub-compact segment. In today’s article, we will see this new generation Rs 8 lakh car.
Hybrid tech
Maruti is working with Toyota to bring affordable hybrid tech to the Indian market. Currently, the Vitara Brezza comes with a smart hybrid system (SHVS) which is quite a basic adaption of the Hybrid system. In this new hybrid system, it will get a small 1-kWh or 2-kWh battery pack with regenerative capabilities.
New generation Rs 8 lakh car- Fuel efficient
As mentioned above, the Hybrid tech will translate to great fuel efficiency on the Brezza. The current generation Brezza gives a mileage of 17-19 km/l. With this new hybrid tech, it is expected to deliver an average of 30km/l. This will be a big boost for mileage conscious customers in this segment.
New platform
Currently, the Brezza is based on Suzuki’s global C platform. In the next generation, the Brezza will be based on the Heartect platform upon which all new Maruti cars are based. It will be interesting to see if this new platform can retain the 4-star crash rating of the current Brezza.
New generation Rs 8 lakh car- Better safety
Safety has become an important point in the Indian market due to increased awareness. So in its newer generation Maruti will look to add more active and passive safety features on the Brezza. It should get safety features like six airbags, ABS + EBD, brake assist, traction control and electronic stability control.
New transmission
The Current Brezza comes with a manual and torque converter gearbox. But the torque converter gearbox is an old 4-speed unit. Maruti should look to bring a 5 or 6-speed gearbox on the new generation Brezza. Engine-wise it is expected to retain the 1.5-litre petrol. Maruti may bring in a CNG gearbox in the new generation Brezza.
