The seven-seater car segment has been very active in the last few months. But most of the new launches have been in the affordable or mid-size SUV segments. There have been no new launches in the full-size SUV segment, dominated by the Toyota Fortuner.  Hyundai can change this with its rumoured Tucson 7-seater. On this Tucson 7-seater, Hyundai will follow a similar strategy as the Creta and Alcazar. In today’s article, we will be looking at this new Hyundai SUV.

Tucson 7-seater design

Tucson 7-seater

This Tucson 7-seater will be based on the new generation Tucson. At the front, it will get a blacked-out Hyundai grille with jewel-shaped DRLs seamlessly integrating into the grille. The side profile will see major changes due to the extra row. It will get an extended and bulky side profile. At the rear, it will get connected tail lamps similar to the new generation Creta. Other exterior highlights include new alloy wheels, chrome strips and an extended wheelbase.

Specifications

We expect the Tucson 7-seater to share its engine with the Tucson 5-seater. The Tucson in India comes with petrol and diesel engine options. A petrol engine is a 2.0-litre unit capable of producing 150bhp and 192Nm of torque. The second engine is a 2.0-litre diesel engine capable of producing 182bhp and 400Nm of torque. Hyundai might retune the engine a bit to produce more power. Transmission options will include a torque converter gearbox. The diesel engine also gets a 4wd option.

Tucson 7-seater features

As with all Hyundai cars, the Tucson 7-seater will come loaded with features. It will get wireless charging in the 1st & 2nd row, a digital instrument cluster, a panoramic sunroof, AC vents in all rows and much more. It will also offer a lot of driver aids and safety features like hill assist, paddle shifters, multiple airbags, ISOFIX seats, cruise control, traction control and much more.

Launch and pricing

There is nothing official from Hyundai regarding the Tucson 7-seater. But we expect Hyundai to create this new segment and get the early mover advantage. If launched, the Tucson 7-seater will be Rs 1 to 1.5-lakh more expensive than the 5-seater Tucson.
