List of cars currently under testing
After a comeback from the global pandemic, carmakers are now getting on their feet and are back on track with their planned launches for buyers. Carmakers test their new products before they launch them in the car market. With multiple launches postponed in the the past, there is a big batch of products that is slated for launch in the country. this article, we will discuss cars that were spotted testing and are expected to launch in the country soon.
New Mahindra Scorpio
Mahindra has some ambitious plans for their SUVs in India. The new-generation of their popular SUV, the Scorpio has been continuously spotted during testing. Due to the frequent spotting, we believe the car is set to launch in the coming months. The car will come with a modern design and will also offer modern convenience features. Some key features will include dual-zone climate control, fully-digital instrument cluster, new touchscreen infotainment system and connected car tech.
New Mahindra XUV300
XUV300 is another popular car from Mahindra. This is also one of the safest cars you can buy in India with a Global NCAP score of five-stars. The new generation of XUV300 was seen testing recently and we expect Mahindra to launch this car in the coming months as well.
New-generation Maruti Suzuki Celerio
The new-generation Celerio has been spotted testing multiple times. Although the car has not been officially revealed, spy shots in the past have completely revealed the final design of the car. The new car will come with some major design updates and get a premium look when compared to its previous generation. Also, the car is expected to come with some new features as well.
Maruti Suzuki WagonR EV
Maruti Suzuki seems somewhat quiet when it comes to electric vehicles but they are working on an electric product as well. An electric version of their popular hatchback, the WagonR was spotted testing few months back. Although we do not have any solid information on the launch plans regarding this car, we expect Maruti to closely work with Toyota in order to bring this car to the market soon.
Maruti Suzuki Baleno Facelift
Another Maruti Suzuki that was recently spotted testing was the next-generation Baleno. The car is expected to get a generation change as it is a popular product in Maruti Suzuki’s portfolio. With the coming updates, we expect the car to become a much better lucrative option for buyers looking to buy a premium hatchback.
Hyundai Creta facelift
Hyundai recently revealed the official design sketches of the Creta facelift. Hyundai Motors Indonesia had recently teased sketches of the Creta. This is one of the cars that people are eagerly waiting for. We expect the car to come with even more segment-leading features in order to take on new-entrants like Skoda Kushaq, Volkswagen Taigun, Mahindra XUV700 and MG Astor.
Hyundai Venue Facelift
Along with Creta, Hyundai is also working on giving Venue a facelift. A test mule of Hyundai Venue was spotted in South Korea. We expect the car to come with an array of updates in order to match with what the competition has been offering lately.
Kia Sonet seven-seater
Kia is testing the Sonet seven-seater in India. The car was spotted testing on Indian roads recently. The car is expected to launch sometime next year.
Volkswagen Vitrus
Volkswagen is also in the news for testing its car. They are testing a car that will be similar to the upcoming Skoda Slavia. The car from Volkswagen is Vitrus. We expect the car to be a replacement for the Vento in the country.
Toyota RAV4
Toyota is planning to bring in its RAV4 to the country. The car has been spotted testing multiple times. The car is expected to be a premium offering from the brand in the coming time.
Toyota Yaris Hatchback
Toyota recently discontinued the Yaris, a sedan that was competing against Honda City and Maruti Suzuki Ciaz. Recently, spy shots of the Yaris hatchback were spotted during testing. Toyota is expected to bring in Yaris as a hatchback in the coming time.
Jeep Meridian
A seven-seater version of the Jeep Compass, called the Jeep Meridian is also in the news as spy shots are in circulation. The car was spotted during high-altitude testing in Himalayas and Ladakh a while ago. The Meridian will be a premium offering from the brand and will compete with premium seven-seaters like the Mahindra Alturas G4, the Toyota Fortuner and the MG Gloster.
Tata Safari
Tata Safari with complete camouflage was spotted in Pune and Thane. The car is expected to get a four-wheel-drive variant and a petrol engine. The new variants of the Safari are expected to launch next year.
BYD E6
Recently an electric car from the Chinese brand BYD was spotted in Juhu, Mumbai. This could be another Chinese brand making its way to enter the Indian car market. With BYD being a major EV maker, we expect the EV space to grow in the country rapidly.
Citroen Creta Competition (Peugeot 2008)
Recently, the Peugeot 2008 crossover SUV was spotted testing on the Indian roads. There are very few chances of Peugeot coming to India. As of now, the Stellantis group is focusing on the Citroen brand in India. The Peugeot 2008 shares the same underpinning as that of the Citroen C3 crossover and could directly compete with Hyundai Creta.
