5 Royal Enfield Himalayan competition bikes coming soon

Royal Enfield is a very popular brand in the Indian two-wheeler market. Almost all its bikes are famous and have a distinct fan following. The Royal Enfield Himalayan is one such bike and it currently enjoys being a segment leader in adventure bikes. In this article, we will discuss five such bikes that are coming soon to India and could be possible Himalayan rivals.

Suzuki DR-Z400S

This is a dual-sport motorcycle from Suzuki, the Suzuki DRZ400S. The bike gets a 398cc liquid-cooled petrol engine with a five-speed gearbox. The bike gets stunning 300mm of ground clearance 935mm seat height, long-travel suspension in front, and linkage-assisted spring-preload and compression-adjustable mono-shock suspension. In front, the bike gets 21-inch tube tyres with spoke wheels and 250mm disc brakes, while in the rear it gets 18-inch tube tyres with spoke wheels and 220mm disc brakes. Suzuki will try to get this bike as a CKD unit and keep the price between Rs 3 to Rs 3.5 lakh in India.

Honda CB350X

Also expected is an adventure tourer from Honda that will compete with the Himalayan. The bike is expected to be placed between the existing CB200X and the CB500X. This bike is expected to carry the same engine that is currently available on the CB H’ness 350. The bike gets a 348.36cc air-cooled petrol engine that produces 20.78 bhp and 30 Nm of torque with a five-speed manual gearbox. The bike is expected to be priced between Rs 2.85 to Rs 3.15 lakh ex-showroom.

Benelli TRK251

Benelli is on its way to introduce a soft-roader that’s more of a highway tourer at the same time it can handle some off-roading as well. The Benelli TRK 251 was showcased for the first time at EICMA 2018 along with other bikes from Benelli. The bike gets a 249cc single-cylinder, 4-valve, liquid-cooled petrol engine that produces 25.5 bhp and 21.2 Nm of torque mated to a six-speed gearbox. The bike gets 17-litre fuel tank, 41mm upside-down forks with 120mm suspension travel in the front, and 51mm wheel travel mono-shock suspension in the rear. The bike gets 17-inch alloy wheels both in front and rear. In front, the bike gets a 280mm disc brake and in the rear, it gets a 240mm disc brake. Benelli is expected to launch this bike at a price point of Rs 2.50 ex-showroom in India.

Kawasaki KLR650

This is a big bike from Kawasaki that will rival the Royal Enfield Himalayan once it reaches India. The bike gets a 651 cc four-stroke single-cylinder petrol engine. The front of the bike gets a 41 mm telescopic long-travel suspension, while the rear gets an adjustable Uni-Trak suspension. The bike gets a big fuel tank with a 27-litre capacity made available for long-distance touring. The bike also comes with a large windscreen and sturdy cargo rack. This bike is made for riders who are seeking adventure while riding off-road and long-distance touring. The bike offers a high seating position with a relaxed seating posture is designed for both on and off-road riding. We expect the price to be somewhere around Rs 3.5 lakh if manufactured locally in India.

Yezdi Adventure Bike

Classic Legends Pvt. Ltd. the makers of Jawa and Yezdi have recently been spotted testing their adventure bike in India. The bike has the looks and design of a proper adventure bike. The bike seems to be built to rival the Royal Enfield Himalayan. The bike is built specifically for long touring and some off-roading capabilities. As per spy-shots, the bike gets upright seating position, spoked wheels, fatter rear tyre, and round headlight.
