The Indian car market is a place where new cars keep coming up every year. Some become bestsellers, some manage to survive and some barely see any daylight outside the showroom or warehouse. In this article, we discuss five such cars that seem to be forgotten by the manufacturers.

Volkswagen Polo

Forgotten but still loved – Volkswagen Polo

Polo is still considered a premium offering from Volkswagen. The Polo that was offered with a 1.2-litre TSI turbo petrol engine is a big miss in the market today. This is priced at Rs 7.32 Lakh and the top-end variant goes all the way to Rs 11.75 lakh. The car has never got a generation update and is very old, lacks features and space. It’s still a great car but really outdated.

Renault Duster

Cars Forgotten in 2021 – Renault Duster

In 2012 Renault launched Duster and since then the car has not got any major updates. We still get the first generation Duster in India while most foreign markets get the second-generation Duster. There is no option for a diesel engine in Duster after BS6 norms were implemented. The car was previously available with all-wheel-drive which got discontinued with the diesel. The Duster is priced at Rs 11.49 lakh and the top-end variant goes up to Rs 16.86 lakh. This price for an outdated car seems too high while you can get another car with more features and within the same price range. The Duster is still seen in the Renault showroom desperately waiting for an update. Manufactures seem to have forgotten about the Duster.

Kia Carnival

Kia Carnival

The next car to be on our list of forgotten cars is Kia Carnival. Kia promoted this car as a luxury MPV. The Kia Carnival is a car that is available in India in the previous generation. The new generation Carnival is available in foreign markets but not in India. The price of Kia Carnival starts at Rs 30.44 lakh and goes to Rs 41.43 lakh (on-road Mumbai). For that amount of money, you get a car that’s one generation old.

Hyundai Kona Electric

Hyundai Kona

Hyundai had launched Kona back in 2019. The car is an EV from a reliable and known brand like Hyundai are the only points in its favor. It gets very less space and is old in terms of features. This seems overpriced at Rs 25 lakh (on-road Mumbai) for what it offers. The car needs a facelift too. The Kona is targeted towards the elite class who want to make a switch to EV. The car definitely needs a design update and some revision in its pricing.

Maruti S-Cross
Maruti S-Cross

Maruti Suzuki S-Cross

This car is one of the most underrated cars from Maruti. The S-Cross has a good road presence, a fuel-efficient engine, the cabin space is equally comfortable, but still, the S-Cross goes unnoticed. The car comes with a 1.5-litre K15B petrol engine that produces 103bhp and 138Nm of torque. The engine is offered with a five-speed manual transmission and a four-speed automatic transmission. The SHVS mild-hybrid system is also offered in the S-Cross. The S-Cross has not received any major update and seems to be lacking attention.
