The SUV market is growing rapidly in the Indian market. In SUVs we have various segments. One such segment is the full-size SUV segment. The full-size SUV segment is dominated by the Toyota Fortuner. With the discontinuation of Ford Endeavour, the Fortuner has no real competition in this segment. But Skoda can change this with its upcoming Kodiaq. The Kodiaq was discontinued due to the BS6 norms. Now Skoda will be launching its facelift with BS6 compliant engines. In today’s article, we will see this Toyota Fortuner rival.

This new Kodiaq will get an upright grille, elevated bonnet and revamped front to add more sportiness. It will get a revised headlight design with LED matrix elements. Other subtle changes will include gloss blacked finished diffuser and the Kodiaq badging all over the tailgate like other Skoda cars. Kodiaq RS, a more sporty version of the Kodiaq, gets more blacked-out elements to maintain a sporty feel.

The Kodiaq will get updated interiors with more premium interiors. It will get perforated leather seats with powered adjustments, massage & ventilation function. Other than this, it will get a new 2-spoke steering wheel and a virtual cockpit.

The Kodiaq will come with only petrol engine options. It will come with a 2.0-litre TSI turbo-petrol engine capable of producing 187bhp and 320Nm of torque. Transmission options will include a seven-speed DSG gearbox. An AWD system will also be optional. The Skoda RS also gets the same engine with more performance.

The Kodiaq facelift comes with an optional 9.2-inch infotainment system, while an 8.0-inch system is standard. The SUV will be equipped with a 10.25-inch virtual cockpit on all variants. Other than this, it will get features like a 10-speaker Canton sound system, a new sports mode and revamped LED ambient lighting.

Skoda Kodiaq

The Skoda Kodiaq is expected to be launched by the end of this year. Pricing wise it is expected to start from 33 lakh (ex-showroom). Its main rival will be the Toyota Fortuner. Other competitors are MG Gloster, Mahindra Alturas G4 and Volkswagen Tiguan AllSpace.
