Tata with all it’s models have been raking in good sales for the company. But there are some products which Tata can improve even further to take on the competition. One such product is the Tata Harrier, that needs a petrol engine. In today’s article, we will talk about the Tata Harrier petrol – what do we expect?
Tata Harrier petrol engine details
Tata is reportedly working on an in-house 1.6-litre turbo petrol engine. Tata had hinted about this engine in the Geneva Motor Show. As in its current lineup, the most powerful engine it has is the 1.2-litre turbo petrol that can’t be used in a car like the Harrier. It is expected to produce 150bhp and 250Nm of torque. This engine will most likely come with a DCT gearbox and a manual gearbox.
Why does it make sense?
The petrol Harrier will help Tata to lower the price of the SUV. It will make the starting price of the Harrier cheaper so people will be able to experience this big SUV without stretching their budget. Also, it will be useful for people who have less usage and don’t require a diesel car. Also, a lot of people avoid diesel engines due to the upcoming emission norms.
This new petrol engine will get new driving modes with the update. It will also get a new colour as the Altroz got with its i-turbo variant. Other than this, Tata may add some features like new leather seats and some other comfort features to give it a unique feel.
Tata Harrier petrol Pricing and launch
Generally, the petrol variants cost 1 lakh less than their diesel counterparts. So we can expect Harrier to start from Rs 13 lakh (ex-showroom). We expect the launch of the new engine and variant early next year.
