Ford is readying up for the launch of their new Endeavour, sometime towards the middle of next month. The company has already begun assemblies at its plant in Chennai, from CKD-kits brought down from Thailand, to ensure that there are enough stocks to meet the anticipated demand. A car has been snapped up somewhere on the outskirts of Chennai. It is being speculated that the said car was part of the stocks being dispatched to dealers, going by the protective sticker clad appearance.

Buyers in India will be able to choose between two diesel engine options on the new Ford Endeavour. The 2.2 litre quad-cylinder engine churns out 148 bhp and 385 Nm torque. It gets a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission as an option too.

The larger 3.2 litre engine is a five-cylinder affair and puts out 197 bhp and 470 Nm of torque. This engine will be offered only with the six-speed automatic transmission.

As can be seen from the snap, the new Endeavour gets Daytime Running Lights (DRL’s) and LED tail-lamps.

The SUV will also come with electric assist for the tail-gate. Other key features on offer with the new Endeavour include the Ford SYNC2 infotainment system, complete with voice-activated controls and electric-assist for folding the seat backs in the third row seating.

Mechanical updates such as Hill-hold assist as well as an advanced traction control system will be offered as standard. Ford is also focussing big on safety, with the new Endeavour getting airbags as standard for passengers in the front row, anti-lock braking (ABS) as well as electronic brake distribution (EBD) system on board. Side and curtain airbags shall be offered on the higher trim variant too.

There’s been no word on the final pricing yet, though market estimates indicate that the lower-spec engine variant could start at INR 22 lakhs, with the higher powered variant sitting a few lakhs higher. We’ll bring you the final pricing once we get our hands on the same.
