Nissan is finally doing good sales volumes all thanks to its compact-SUV the Magnite. The car has been contributing more than 90% of the total sales of Nissan India. Before Nissan got the Magnite in India they were literally struggling to get some serious sales. With Magnite coming into the picture for Nissan has changed a lot. In this article, we will try to compare Nissan Magnite with Kia Sonet and find out which compact SUV provides more value for money under Rs 10 lakh.

The Nissan Magnite is 3994mm in length, 1758mm wide, 1572mm tall with a wheelbase of 2500mm, and a ground clearance of 205mm. The car in comparison to the Kia Sonet is 3995mm in length, 1790mm wide, 1642mm tall with a wheelbase of 2500mm, and ground clearance of 211mm. In terms of dimensions both cars seem the same with the Kia Sonet has a tad bit of advantage of higher ground clearance at 211mm when compared to 205mm of the Magnite. Magnite gets a boot space of 336 litres while the Sonet gets a bigger boot space of 392-litres.

The Nissan Magnite gets a 1.0litre turbo petrol engine that produces 99bhp and 152Nm of torque mated to a CVT gearbox. The Kia Sonet gets a 1.0-litre turbo engine that produces 119bhp and 172Nm of torque mated to a six-speed iMT gearbox. The Magnite lacks power but gets a CVT transmission which is a big advantage for driving in city traffic.

The Nissan Magnite gets features like keyless entry, a start-stop button, wireless connectivity for Android Auto & Apple CarPlay, wireless charging, a fully digital instrument cluster, and connected car technology. When it comes to safety the Magnite gets dual airbags, Traction Control System (TCS), ABS with EBD, Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), and a 360-degree camera.

The Kia Sonet gets almost similar features but lacks a trunk light, a rear reading lamp, rear armrest with cup holders and dual-tone dashboard. The second-row seats of Magnite come with a 60:40 split while that of the Sonet comes a bench folding.

The Nissan Magnite XL Turbo CVT is priced at 9.90Lakh (on-road Mumbai) while the Kia Sonet HTK Plus Turbo iMT is priced at Rs 9.89 lakhs (on-road Mumbai). The Nissan Magnite offers more features for the price at which it’s sold compared to Kia Sonet.

Verdict

If you are someone who is looking for more features and a car that’s easy to drive, Nissan Magnite is a car for you. It’s not that the Kia Sonet lacks any features but then the variant would change and you would have to pay more to get some additional features that provide ease and comfort while you drive. Overall, the Nissan Magnite is a value-for-money package to buy under Rs 10 lakhs.
