Camouflaged 2017 Ford EcoSport spotted in USA
The EcoSport has proved to be a winner for Ford in India. The compact SUV in the years since introduction has only grown on the sales charts, finding acceptance with an increasing number of buyers with each passing year. Ford on their part have been quick to update the EcoSport, bumping up power and tweaking the exterior styling in a mid-cycle refresh earlier this year. But this was only a stop-gap measure and the camouflaged EcoSport doing rounds in the United States is proof that Ford has been working on a more comprehensive update to their high-selling compact SUV.
Heavy camouflage dons the front of the EcoSport prototype which indicates some major tweaks to the styling there. A new grille, something on the lines of the Ford Edge and the Escape face-lift is likely to be drafted in on the EcoSport refresh. The lights too (at the front, as well as the back) are sure to receive some attention from Ford’s designers, but all this is inconclusive at the moment.
The EcoSport is expected to be given a freshening on the inside as well.

With Honda lining up their much-awaited BR-V for launch, Ford will be aware of the importance of this. Whatever the updates shall be, they’ll build upon the recently added four-inch colour display for the infotainment system and added sound deadening all-round.
The Ford EcoSport is available with a choice of three engines. There is a 1.5 litre TDCi diesel motor that develops 99 bhp of power and 205 Nm torque, while the 1.5 litre TiVCT petrol develops 110 bhp and 140 Nm torque. Additionally, there is also a 1.0 litre EcoBoost engine as well that develops 124 bhp and 170 mm torque. Things on the engine front for the 2017 model are to continue as before. This means that the existing power-train line-up shall be offered as is.

The new, 2017 face-lift version is expected to be offered in India as well. A launch should happen to that effect, sometime towards the end of 2016 or in the first quarter of 2017.
