The EV market in India is still in its early stages. Charging infrastructure is being developed, which is a step in the right direction. Manufacturers are keeping a close eye on the EV market. Some manufacturers like Tata and Mahindra have already entered the EV segment. Now Hyundai group has announced their EV plans in India. They are planning to launch six EVs in India in the coming time. In today’s article, we will see this six Hyundai/Kia EVs.

Hyundai Kona facelift

Hyundai/Kia EVs

The first car in this will be the facelift version of the Hyundai Kona. Hyundai is looking to improve the sales of the Kona. This facelift version will be locally assembled in India from imported parts. It is expected to get a WLTP range of 305km and 484km. It will be launched in the first quarter of 2022.

Kia EV6

Kia’s first electric car in India would be the EV6. It is based on Hyundai’s E-GMP skateboard, which is specifically designed for electric vehicles. In the start, it will come as completely built units, later the group will look to produce it locally. The EV 6 gets Kia’s signature bold design. It is expected to be launched in 2022.

Hyundai Ioniq 5

Hyundai Ioniq is the sister car to the EV6. It is also based on the E-GMP skateboard platform. It will come through the CBU route in India. It will share a lot of similarities with the EV6. Like the EV6, it will come with multiple features and will offer a good range. It is expected to be launched in 2022. 

Kia e-Niro

Kia will be bringing the e-Niro, a sister model to the Kona, to India. The e-Niro will be locally assembled with imported parts. Globally the e-Niro will get a facelift. It will have a WLTP range of 289km and 455km. Engine power figures will be similar to the Kona. It is expected to be launched in 2023.

Hyundai/Kia mass-market EV

E-GMP platform

Both brands have started work on a mass-market EV specifically for the Indian market. These vehicles will be heavily localised to reduce the overall price. Both the cars will be SUVs with good ground clearance. They will offer a real-world range of around 200-220km. This mass-market EV is expected to be launched in 2024.
