The EV revolution is taking all over the world. In India, too, it is taking place at a steady pace. Currently, there are not many EVs in India. Manufacturers are looking to develop ground-up EVs. But ground up EVs requires a lot of money as you need to spend on a completely new platform. So manufacturers are instead looking to convert their existing vehicles into EVs. In today’s article, we will see cars that are getting an EV avatar soon. 

Maruti WagonR EV

Maruti’s popular hatchback, the WagonR, will soon get an electric avatar. The WagonR is famous for its cabin space that can be a huge boon in the EV space. Maruti has been testing the WagonR EV for some time now. But Maruti is looking to hold the launch till there is a proper charging infrastructure in the country. The WagonR will get a range of 150 km and most probably will be the cheapest EV in the country.

Mahindra eKUV100

Mahindra is known for its SUV lineup. It is looking to establish its EV on the existing SUVs. Mahindra had shown this eKUV100 at the auto expo. It is expected to be the first EV from the brand. It will be powered by a 15.9kW electric motor and will have a range of 150 on a single charge. Mahindra has already unveiled an app (link below) for this car, hinting at a launch soon.  

Cars with an EV Avatar- Tata Altroz EV

After the success of Nexon EV and Tigor EV, the next car to get an EV avatar from Tata motors will be the Altroz.  Tata has showcased the Altroz EV at various events. It will get Tata’s Ziptron motor with an IP67-rated battery. It will have a range of over 300kms on a single charge.

As mentioned above, Mahindra is looking to convert its SUV lineup. The eXUV300 will be Mahindra’s take on the Nexon EV. This eXUV300 will get some subtle changes over the normal eXUV300. It will have a range of around 375km. Other specifications are a mystery at the moment.
