Kawasaki, the Japanese bike manufacturer is preparing to embark upon an ambitious journey in India over the next two years. It will be launching a mouth-watering total of 12 new models in total between now and 2017.

The dozen launches being lined up by Kawasaki will include a mix of updates to the models in their existing line-up as well as fresh launches that would expand their product portfolio in India.

The company has further clarified that they will be looking to go beyond mere technical updates to the engines in order to make them compliant to the upcoming revisions to the emissions norms.

Kawasaki have confirmed that they will be launching an all-new edition of their iconic super-bike, the legendary Hayabusa for example. They will also be introducing the production version of their Spirit Charger concept. The Spirit Charger Concept is Kawasaki’s evolution on the future as signified by the Ninja H2 supercharged model. Where the latter is a focussed tool, requiring a particular amount of commitment from the rider, the Spirit Charger Concept will be the everyday version – figuratively speaking. According to the company, it is intended to be a motorcycle that would be better suited to real-world riding conditions, with day-long rides across states, with the expected degree of comfort and enjoyment.

The new launches from Kawasaki would include engine capacities across the entire spectrum; starting with their smallest 250cc motor, going up all the way to 1500cc behemoths and beyond. So we would be keeping an eye out for all announcements by the company at major Motor Shows around the globe. While most of the high capacity motorcycles should be taking the CBU route into the country, the small to mid-range capacity ones could see local assemblies, or CKD operations.

Meanwhile, the attention is now on the launch of the newest addition to the mid-size touring segment, the Versys 650. An Adventure Tourer (ADV) powered by a 650cc parallel-twin engine which is shared with the Ninja 650 with relevant tweaks. The Versys 650 is the younger sibling of the company’s litre class ADV motorcycle, the Versys 1000.
