Ola cabs will be offering ride sharing services in New Delhi, as the new law of even and odd has been implement in the National Capital.

The government has proposed to pass a new law that states only cars with even or odd numbers will be plying the Delhi roads on alternate days.

“Ola Share will allow citizens who travel on the same routes to share their rides with users from social groups they are part of, starting today. This makes for economical fares and reduced congestion, since a ride can now be shared by up to three people at any point in time,” stated Ola in a press release.

Ola Share was introduced in Bangalore in this October.

The Ola rival, Uber has also recently launched this facility, where private car owners can share rides.

Ola Head (Ola Share) Ishan Gupta mentioned, ”We are excited to bring Ola Share to Delhi NCR at a time when the citizens and the government are taking a massive step to reduce on-road congestion. Ola Share will help citizens travel in the comfort of social groups they are part of, with convenient access from the Ola app.

The Delhi government’s idea to implement the odd-even numbered cars to ply on roads for the first 15 days starting from 1st January 2016. Riding sharing is an evolved market in the USA and for India it has just been introduced. We shall soon learn on how well does it work out.
