Tata has enjoyed a great revival in the Indian market. All their cars have been enjoying good sales. But their SUV lineup has been the biggest contributor to their recent success. To keep this good momentum going, Tata is launching their new product, the Tata Punch. The Punch is going to reactivate the Micro-SUV segment in India. This segment will cater to people looking for an SUV feel in a compact size. In today’s article, we will look at five things to know about the Tata Punch.

Exterior design

The Punch is based on the ALFA-ARC platform. It gets signature Tata SUV traits. It gets eyebrow DRLs with a headlight cluster below the DRLs. This cluster is similar to the other Tata cars like Harrier and Safari. The upper grille is closed off with the Tata logo in the middle. While below, it gets a bumper grille with fog lamps and tri-arrows elements on it. The side profile gets a lot of muscular fenders giving it an SUV look. The rear profile gets wrap-around taillights similar to the Nexon.

The interiors of the Punch are similar to the Altroz. It has a floating touchscreen in the middle. Below it, there will be rectangular AC vents with a blue outline. Then there is a white dashboard. It gets a multi-function steering wheel with a semi-digital instrument cluster.

Engine options

The Punch will most probably get a 1.2-litre Revtron engine. This engine also powers the Tiago and Altroz in India. Tata might re-tune it to extract more power. Gearbox options will include a manual and an AMT gearbox. Tata might bring 1.2-litre turbo petrol in the future like it did on the Altroz.

Features

Tata has started loading their cars with a lot of features, so Punch will also continue the trend. It will get features like a 7.0-inch infotainment system, premium sound system, multi-function steering wheel, semi-digital instrument cluster, connected car tech and adjustable headrests. Safety features will include dual airbags and ABS with EBD standard. It will also get 90 degree opening doors.

Tata has already shown the design and interiors with its teaser. It will do a full reveal on the 4th of October. So we can expect the launch to happen in the next month. We expect the car to start from somewhere around Rs 5 lakhs (ex-showroom). It will rival products like the Maruti S-Presso and Maruti Ignis.
