Honda is an aspirational brand in India. It is known for its sedan lineup. So the recent shift in SUVs caught Honda off-guard. But now Honda is working on their SUV lineup. In India, it is developing a mid-size SUV based on the City platform. Abroad Honda had unveiled the N7X concept last year. Now Honda has revealed the production-spec version of the N7X concept called the new-generation BR-V in Indonesia and in today’s article, we will see be checking out the what this car offers.

The production spec is almost identical to the prototype shown earlier. At the front, the look is dominated by a large chrome-laden grille with a big Honda logo in the middle. Besides the grille is a headlamp cluster with integrated L-shaped DRLs over the LED headlamps. Other exterior features include a muscular bonnet and sharp lines all over giving it a mean look. At the rear, it gets wraparound Z-shaped taillamps and roof-mounted spoilers. It also gets multi-spoke alloy wheels.

The N7X will be powered by the 1.5-litre petrol engine, it is the same engine that powers the Honda city in India. This engine is capable of producing 121bhp and 145Nm of torque. Gearbox options will include a 5-speed manual and a CVT automatic. It is rumored to get a hybrid powertrain in the future.

Will it come to India?

Currently, Honda has no seven-seater car in our market after it discontinued the BR-V. But considering how much the 7-seater market has grown over the last few months. The new BR-V can be a worthy competitor if Honda brings it to India. As mentioned above, for the Indian market Honda is already developing a localized mid-size SUV based on the City platform. Should this come? We think Honda might want to get a SUV soon to India and this with the new generation BRV features, if might be able to bring really cool features like ADAS to the competition.
