American car maker, General Motors India announced a recall of 1,01,597 units of Chevrolet Beat diesel hatchback, on Tuesday.

 The manufacturer commented that they have found the clutch lever is susceptible to cracking on continuous use. They will inspect and if necessary replace the faulty component.

The recall is applicable for all Chevrolet Beat diesel variants produced between December 2010 and July 2014. The company has already started speaking to customers and informing them about the same.

Customers are advised to take their cars to any of the 248 authorised service centres across India to have their car inspected and rectified. Alternatively, customers can also contact their nearest Chevrolet dealership and schedule an appointment for vehicle inspection and correction. The company is working closely with their service network to make the entire inspection and correction exercise as smooth as possible. The affected vehicles will be repaired free of charge at Chevrolet’s authorized service centres.

“Quality and care are our highest priorities and we are committed to putting customers at the centre of everything we do. If we foresee a potential issue, we ensure that it is corrected as soon as possible, as part of our complete commitment to customer satisfaction,” the company said in a statement.

This is General Motors second recall of 2015, first being in July when they needed to recall 1.

55lakh units of the Spark, Beat and Enjoy models to fix the problem related to a key-less entry.

That was the company’s biggest recall yet.
