Hyundai is enjoying great success in the Indian market. They have been able to sell all types of vehicles, from hatchbacks to SUVs, in India. One segment which Hyundai has not entered is the affordable MPV segment. This segment is dominated by cars like the Maruti Ertiga and XL6. Hyundai has planned an MPV for emerging markets like Indonesia and India. Currently, it is codenamed Hyundai Ks and will be named Hyundai Stargazer when launched. In today’s article, we will be looking at this Hyundai Rs 10 lakh MPV.
Why a new MPV
Hyundai is known for its proactive decisions. It has made big gains in hatchback and SUV segments. An affordable MPV was missing in their lineup. With the Stargazer, Hyundai is looking to further increase its dominance.
Rs 10 lakh MPV platform and design
This new MPV will share its platform with Creta. It is expected to be the same length as the Alcazar. We don’t have much information about the design, but recently a test car was spotted in Korea. The MPV seems to have design elements from the Hyundai Tucson and Bayon sold in international markets.
Rs 10 lakh MPV Specifications
This MPV is expected to have the same engines as the Creta. It will get a 1.5-litre petrol engine and a 1.5-litre diesel engine. The chances of the diesel variant of this MPV coming to India is very slim. Hyundai might also offer the 1.4-litre turbo petrol. Transmission options will be also shared with Creta.
Launch & pricing
While there is no official information regarding the launch of stargazer, but we expect Hyundai to launch the stargazer in mid-2022. Before the stargazer, Kia will launch their MPV, the Kia KY, in India. Both the brands will share platforms, engines and features as they do on the Seltos and Creta or Venue and Sonet. Hyundai will let Kia take the lead and keep a gap between both products to not cannibalize each other’s sales.
