Tata has been doing well in the Indian market. Their SUV lineup has been the key to their success. They have SUVs in various segments. Tata is even creating a new SUV segment with its Punch. So it comes as a surprise that Tata has no competition for the Hyundai Creta. This segment is quite lucrative for Tata to miss out on. Tata has been working on a C-segment product codenamed the Tata Blackbird. In today’s article, we will be looking at this Tata Rs 10 lakh SUV.

Tata Punch vs Hyundai Casper – Micro SUVs battle

Design

The Blackbird will carry forward Tata’s Impact design language. Tata will most probably take design clues from the Nexon and Harrier for the Blackbird. It will get DRLs on the top and bumper-mounted headlamps like the Harrier and Safari duo. The rear could have a tri-arrow theme to maintain uniformity across the lineup.

Tata Rs 10 lakh SUV specifications

Tata will most probably use the ALFA platform for the Blackbird. This platform also underpins Nexon and Altroz. This platform is known for its safety and Tata can use this as its USP in this segment. A lot of cars in this segment are either untested or have scored low scores when it comes to safety. These will help Tata get an instant advantage.

Tata to bring Rs 15 lakh off-roader?

The car is expected to get the same engines as the Nexon. The Nexon comes with 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine and a 1.5-litre diesel engine. Tata will retune these engines for more power. Transmission options will include a manual and a torque converter gearbox.

Tata Rs 10 lakh SUV features

The C-segment is loaded with feature-rich cars. So to compete, here Tata will have to load Blackbird with lots of features. It should get features like a panoramic sunroof, floating touchscreen infotainment system, ambient lighting, ventilated seats, digital instrument cluster, drive modes and wireless charging.

Launch and pricing

There is no official word from Tata regarding the Blackbird. However, we think that Tata is working on it to expand its lineup. It is expected to be unveiled in 2023. The pricing of the car is expected to start from Rs 10 lakh (ex-showroom) to compete with the competition.
