In India, SUVs have been all the rage for the last few years. There is demand for all types of SUVs from compact to full-size SUVs. Seeing such demand manufacturers are also looking to open up new segments. This new segment will be the Mirco-SUV segment. Last month tata had unveiled its Micro-SUV, the Punch. To counter this Hyundai also unveiled the Casper. In today’s article, we will be comparing the Tata Punch vs Hyundai Casper.

Design

The Punch gets a headlight setup that is similar to the Harrier and Safari. The car gets eyebrow DRLs with the main headlight cluster placed below. The front grille gets signature Tata elements. At the rear, it gets wrap around taillamps similar to the Nexon.

Hyundai has followed a quirky design language on the Casper. The front of the car is unique, with a speaker like a grille and circular headlamps and a DRL setup on it. The Bonnet has some sharp lines. The side profile has a lot of curvy bits. Like the front, the rear also has circular taillamps with reflectors over them.

The Punch is based on Tata’s ALFA platform. The exact dimensions are not known, but it would be somewhere around 3800mm in length. Coming to the engine, Punch will be powered by a 1.2-litre Revotron engine. 1.2-litre turbo petrol will most likely be offered on the higher variants. Transmission options will include a manual and an AMT gearbox.

The Casper is based on Hyundai’s K1 platform.  The Casper should be similar to the Punch in overall dimensions. Engine options for the Casper will include a 1.1-litre petrol engine and a 1.2-litre petrol engine. Gearbox options will be a manual and an AMT.

The Punch is expected to get features like a floating touchscreen, adjustable headrests, premium sound system, multi-function steering wheel, rectangular AC vents and cooled glow box. Tata might also offer a basic version of iRA connected car tech. Safety features it will come with are dual airbags, ABS with EBD, ISOFIX and engine immobilizer.

The Casper will match the Punch with its features. It will get an 8-inch infotainment system, keyless entry, reverse camera & sensors, connected car tech and premium sound system. Safety features will include dual airbags, ABS with EBD and ISOFIX.
