Biofuel which is priced around Rs 65 for a liter will prove to be reliving for consumers who feel overburdened with petrol prices reaching Rs 110 per liter. Mr. Gadkari also that that within six months they will give orders for making flex engines that would operate on gasoline and a blend of ethanol up to 83% mandatory. The state-run oil marketing companies have already been instructed to offer biofuels at their existing facilities where they are selling petrol and diesel.

Benefits to Country

With consumers having a choice between petrol and bioethanol it will also benefit the environmental conditions of the country. He also said that crops like rice, maize corn, and sugar are in surplus production and these are the crops that are used for making bioethanol. The farmers could also benefit from this as the minimum support price offered to the farmers is higher than the commercial price. Manufacturing of electric vehicles is also at a fast pace and automakers are making electric vehicles across segments. We can expect to see many such cars which operate on alternative fuel or electric power on our Indian roads in the next few months.

Future of Indian Auto Manufacturing

Mr. Gadkari wants India to be the leading auto manufacturing hub in the world. Where we could offer vehicles with all types of fuels for all other car markets of the world. Without giving out any further details Mr. Gadkari also said that efforts are made to tap gas from seawater and sewage water. Also about using hydrogen as an alternate fuel.
