New generation Mahindra Scorpio – what will it offer?
Mahindra is known for its rugged SUV lineup in the Indian car market. The brand has been planning to remodel this lineup with new SUVs. The first car to arrive in this remodel will be the XUV700. Post that, the brand is planning to bring the new generation of its iconic Scorpio. This will be another important launch for Mahindra. The Scorpio and Bolero established the brand in the SUV space, so we expect Mahindra to load this car with segment-leading features. New generation Scorpio design
The new-generation Mahindra Scorpio will get a modern design with new design elements. It will get a new stylish headlamp unit. We expect it to come with the traditional Mahindra grille. Also, we will get to see the new twin-peaked Mahindra SUV logo. The bumpers will be redesigned with a new fog lamp setup. At the rear, it will get new taillamps and spoiler. It will also get new alloy wheels. On the interior front, the SUV will get a modern dashboard layout. Interiors will get a big infotainment system and an electric sunroof.
Specifications
The new generation Scorpio will be offered with both petrol and diesel engines. The petrol engine is expected to be the same 2.0-litre Stallion unit that powers the Thar. This unit is capable of producing 150bhp and 300Nm of torque. However, we expect the engine to undergo re-tuning in order to make more power. The diesel engine is expected to be the 2.2-litre mHawk unit that will power the base variant of the upcoming XUV700. The engine will be capable of producing 153bhp & 360Nm of torque in the lower state of tune. Both the engines are expected to come mated to manual & automatic gearbox.
New generation Mahindra Scorpio features
Mahindra has loaded the XUV700 with segment-first features. We expect Mahindra to do the same on the Scorpio. It will come loaded with features like connected car tech, dual-zone climate control, a big touchscreen infotainment system, front parking sensors, 3rd-row AC vents & charging ports, 4X4 drivetrain, cruise control and an electric sunroof.
