Tata Nexon has been a very popular sub-four-metre SUV. It managed to outsell Hyundai Venue, Ford Ecosport, and Kia Sonet in the month of June 2021. Tata Motors sold 8,033 units of Nexon in June. In the month of July 2021, Tata Motors sold 10,287 units of Nexon. These impressive sales figure just tell us one thing that we are going to see more of Nexon in the coming years. We expect a new generation of Nexon to be in the works. In this article, we will share all things we know about the new-generation Tata Nexon.

New Platform

The new generation of Tata Nexon will be built on the ALFA-Arc platform. Previously, the Nexon was built on Tata’s X1 architecture. Tata Motors had designed the ALFA platform in such a way that it can accommodate multiple body styles. Hatchbacks, sedans, compact SUVs and MPVs can be built on the ALFA architecture. The newer ALFA platform is designed in such a way that you get ample luggage space, rear legroom, and utility space around the driver. This new platform also supports multiple powertrains, be it the conventional petrol & diesel engines, hybrid powertrains or the upcoming electric powertrains.

New generation Tata Nexon Design Language

The Nexon will get a new look in its next generation. The Nexon will now be seen sharing design language with the Harrier and Safari. The front fascia of the new generation Nexon will include DRLs and turn indicators located above the LED projector headlamps & fog lamps that will be placed on the bumper. The rear could also get revamped and get a look similar to that of Harrier.

Powerful Engine

Currently, the Nexon gets a BS6 compliant 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine that makes 118bhp & 170Nm of torque and a 1.5-litre diesel engine that makes 108bhp & 260Nm of torque. The Nexon comes with an option of six-speed manual or six-speed AMT transmissions. We expect Tata to re-tune the engines in order to deliver more power. The new generation Nexon is expected to get a DCT gearbox as well.

New generation Tata Nexon Features

We do know that the new generation Nexon will get some additional features. Here are some features that we expect Tata Motors to provide in the new Nexon. With six airbags becoming a new benchmark in safety, Tata Motors could add this to the new generation Nexon. Wireless charging and ambient lighting are trending features nowadays. We can expect them to be included in the new Nexon. A bigger touch screen infotainment system and an improved fully digital instrument cluster could also give a proper upgrade and a differentiating look to the interiors of the Nexon.

As mentioned above, we are expecting the next-generation Nexon to offer DCT as well. If Tata Motors does give a DCT option to the Nexon, we can also expect to see paddle shifters. Currently, the Nexon has brake lights, rear indicators and reverse light that still uses traditional bulbs. These could be replaced by LEDs.
