Maruti has always been a trusted brand in the Indian automobile market. Maruti cars are affordable, offer good mileage and their spare parts are easily available. With all these factors playing in favour of Maruti, they have a very strong grip on the market. Moreover, Maruti is also good at gauging the sentiments of the buyers. Looking at all these factors, the brand is now expected to bring a new 7-seater to India. Today, we will discuss this new 7-seater from Maruti, the XL7.

7-seater MPVs we want in India

What do we know about this new Maruti 7-seater?

new Maruti 7-seater

The Maruti Suzuki XL7 is an MPV that is currently available for sale in Indonesia. The XL7 is a premium avatar of the Ertiga. The major difference between XL6 and XL7, as the name suggests is the seating layout. XL7 will be a seven-seater and comes with a bench seat in its second row. The Indonesia-spec XL7 comes with elements like black roof, black pillars, doors visors, unique 16-inch alloy wheels, and a rear upper spoiler. We are not sure if Maruti would extend the same elements to India-specific XL7 as well.

The XL7 will get the company’s 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated K15B petrol engine that produces 103bhp and 138Nm of torque. This engine will get options of a five-speed manual as well as a four-speed automatic transmission. The XL7 will be built on the same Heartect platform as the Ertiga. We expect it to measure somewhere around 4,445mm in length, 1,775mm wide, and 1,700mm in height. The car will come with a 2740mm wheelbase. It also offers a boot space of 803 litres, with rear seats folded. The XL7 will be made available through Nexa in India.

How will it be different from the XL6?

The XL6 gets captain seats while the XL7 gets bench format seating in the second row. Also, the Indonesia-specific XL7 gets a 10.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system and bigger 16-inch alloy wheels. We do not expect the XL7 to come with any major changes over the XL6.

Features

Similar to the XL6, the XL7 will also come with premium elements over the regular Ertiga. Full LED headlamps with DRLs, rain-sensing wipers, automatic headlamps, cruise control, automatic AC, multi-function steering wheel, keyless entry, etc.

Launch & price

Maruti will strategically place the XL7 at a slightly higher price over the Ertiga. We expect the Maruti XL7 to be Rs 50,000 to Rs 80,000 more expensive than the Ertiga. We do not have any confirmation regarding this product’s launch as of now, but we expect Maruti to bring the XL7 to India in the coming time.
