The MG Hector revolutionized the SUV segment with its size and segment-first features, and that too at an affordable price. But now, the competition has heated up a lot in this segment. The launch of XUV700 is also expected to do what Hector did, offering a lot at an affordable price. But MG, in order to secure its position in the market, is now expected to take on the XUV700, with Hector itself. The MG Hector is expected to get some new changes to counter the XUV700. In today’s article, we will be looking at this serious Mahindra XUV700 competition.

Why Mahindra XUV700 base model is a steal?

New features added in the MG Hector

MG is known to offer segment-first features. It was the first car manufacturer to bring the Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) (Level 1) on the Gloster. They have also announced the ADAS (Level 2) on the MG Astor. Seeing the XUV700 get ADAS (Level 1), MG might offer it with MG Hector as well. A few months back, MG Hector, which is sold in Indonesia as Wuling Almaz, was spied with ADAS. This clearly shows that MG has the technology ready for Hector. The Level 2 ADAS will come with adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane keep assist, lane departure prevention, intelligent headlamps control and much more.

New gearbox option

The Hector does offer a diesel engine, but only with a manual gearbox option. The absence of a diesel automatic in this segment is a big miss. It, however, gets automatic gearboxes on the petrol variants. As this segment is dominated by diesel engines, MG is expected to bring in a diesel automatic as well.

What all the MG Hector already comes with?

The Hector comes with petrol and diesel engine options. Other features it offers include wireless charging, i-SMART connected car tech, ventilated seats, a panoramic sunroof, Hinglish voice commands, a 10.4-inch infotainment system, rain-sensing wipers, headlamp washer, heated wing mirror, sound system from Infinity and much more. On the safety side of things, it gets six airbags, ABS with EBD, TPMS, Vehicle Stability Control, Electronic Stability Control, a 360-degree camera and hill assist.

With all these features and the above-mentioned additions, the Hector could prove to be a strong contender against the recently-launched Mahindra XUV700. Will it definitely be able to take on the XUV700? Only time will tell.
