The Blackbird will be based on Tata’s Impact design language. Eyebrow LEDs and bumper-mounted headlamps will be the main highlights which will help it resonate with its elder siblings like the Harrier and the Safari. Also, the tri-arrow theme will be followed in order to further maintain uniformity across the complete Tata line-up.
Specifications
Tata is expected to be using the Alpha platform for the Blackbird. This platform also underpins Altroz and Nexon. Tata will be looking to ensure better safety and this could be the USP of the vehicle. A lot of competition cars in this segment have compromised on their safety aspect. Tata can gain an instant advantage if they launch a five-star rated car in this segment.
This car is expected to get the same engines as the Tata Nexon but in a better tune. These include the 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine and a 1.5-litre diesel engine. However, if Tata is looking to beat the Creta, it should try to offer a more powerful engine. The expected gearbox options will include a manual and a torque converter unit.

This segment is loaded with feature-rich cars. Tata will also look to load the Blackbird with a lot of features. It should get features like ambient lighting, a panoramic sunroof, a big infotainment system, a digital instrument cluster, rear AC vents and wireless charging.
Launch and pricing
There is no official announcement from Tata Motors regarding the Blackbird, however, this SUV is the ideal car that can fill the void in the Tata lineup. It will also bring much-needed competition in this segment. The pricing of this car is expected to start from Rs 9 lakh (ex-showroom) in order to undercut the competition.
