One of the best-selling hatchbacks from India’s leading carmaker Maruti, the Swift had gotten a facelift this year. However, the automaker is now said to be working on a generation update for its hatchback. The new-generation Maruti Swift will be a considerable upgrade over the current Swift, something that we will be discussing in this article. Dimensions
The current-generation Maruti Swift is 3845mm long, 1735mm wide and 1530mm tall. The car sits on a 2450mm wheelbase. Since the next-generation car will be based on the Heartect platform itself, we do not expect to see the wheelbase elongate. However, the dimensions might be slightly tweaked in order to improve the comfort inside the cabin.
Exterior styling
With the new-generation Maruti Swift in the picture, we can expect major cosmetic changes on the outside. The headlamps and tail lamps will be redesigned along with new front & rear bumpers and boot lid design. Overall, the next-generation Swift will have some bits of the current-generation model but will also be sufficiently distinguishable. Moreover, the blacked-out front grille will give the hatchback an obvious sporty look with newly-designed alloys accentuating it. Maruti might bring new colour options for the new-generation Swift.

Specifications
The currently available Maruti Swift has a 1.2-litre Dualjet petrol engine which comes mated to a five-speed manual and a five-speed AMT gearbox. The engine is capable of producing 89bhp and 113Nm of torque. As far as the new generation is concerned, we expect the same engine-gearbox combination to be continued with increased power output. However, this is not all. The brand is expected to be working on a diesel engine as well as the Boosterjet engine that it might offer with the Swift as well. Apart from these, we also expect a hybrid engine to make its way to the country, something that the brand has already been selling in foreign markets.
