Maruti working on another Rs 5 lakh car
Maruti as a manufacturer has not launched many products this year. But Maruti has a sleeve of upcoming products. The first of these will be the new-gen Celerio, which is an important launch for the company. Then the company is expected to launch a NEXA product. XL5 is the next expected car in the NEXA lineup. The NEXA lineup provides a more premium experience than normal Maruti cars. The XL5 will be a premium version of the WagonR. In today’s article will be discussing this Maruti Rs 5 lakh car.
Exterior design
The XL5 is based on the WagonR and carries forward its stance and boxy looks. The car will get eyebrow LEDs with the headlamp assembly moved down. Other changes it will get over the WagonR are new shaped LED headlamps, chrome grille, redesigned bumpers, new NEXA specific colours and new alloy wheels. The rear and side profile of the car will remain the same with no body panels changing there. The XL5 will try to look quite bold and aggressive over the WagonR.
Interior design
Since the XL5 will be a NEXA product, it is expected to be premium and plush on the inside as well. All-black interiors will enhance the premium feel inside the cabin. Leather upholstery & seats might be on offer with the XL5. It might come with a central armrest and adjustable headrest for the rear passenger. A leather-wrapped steering wheel and a modern instrument cluster are also expected.
Maruti Rs 5 lakh car specifications
The XL5 will be based on the Heartect platform, similar to the newer Maruti cars. The XL5 will come with 1.0-litre and 1.2-litre petrol engine options, similar to the WagonR. It will come with a manual and an AMT gearbox. Mechanically, the car will be similar to the WagonR.
Maruti Rs 5 lakh car features
The car will get the Smart Play system from Maruti in terms of the infotainment unit. Other features it may come with are a reverse parking camera, automatic climate control, cruise control, ISOFIX and TPMS. On the safety side of things, it will get dual airbags and ABS with EBD as standard.
Pricing and rivals
As the XL5 will be retailed from the NEXA dealership, it will be slightly more expensive than the WagonR. The pricing of the XL5 is expected to start from Rs 5 lakh (ex-showroom). It will compete with the Maruti WagonR, Hyundai Grand i10 Nios and the Tata Tiago.
