The American carmaker’s only flagship SUV in India, the Ford Endeavour has not really gotten a generation update for a long time now. After the automaker discontinued the entry-level Titanium 4×2 trim, the Ford Endeavour now comes in just two fully-equipped trims viz. Titanium+ and Sport. As the American SUV competes against its modern rivals like the MG Gloster, Mahindra Alturas G4, Toyota Fortuner (facelift) and Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace, it is going to get a generation update in the coming time in order to make this competition an interesting one. We have recently learned about two segment-leading features that the new generation Ford Endeavour will come with. In this article, we are going to talk about the segment-leading features that the car will come with.

New-gen Ford Endeavour to be most powerful in segment?

New-generation Ford Endeavour segment-leading features

The new Ford Endeavour will house a vertical 15.5-inch touchscreen infotainment system at the centre of the dashboard, similar to that currently used by Ford’s all-electric SUV, the Mustang Mach-E in the international markets. The display will be capable of controlling HVAC controls and the sunroof. It is believed to be working on the latest Ford SYNC 4 operating system. The lower variants of the Endeavour will however come equipped with a smaller 12.0-inch touchscreen system.

The second segment-leading feature will be under the hood of this vehicle. The Endeavour will mostly be offering the all-new hybrid powertrain as an option as well. The SUV will pair a four-cylinder, turbo-petrol engine with at least one electric motor.

What else do we know?

As far as its dimensions and overall looks go, the front design will be inspired by Ford’s F-series pickup trucks. The SUV will be squarish and bolder in looks, thanks to its front fascia and C-shaped daytime running lights. The new SUV will be based on a slightly updated ladder frame architecture which will be seen on the next-generation Ford Ranger first. The Ford Ranger will be made available in international markets. Talking about the kit on offer, the Endeavour might be getting a panoramic sunroof, ventilated seats, a high-resolution 360-degree camera system, voice commands, connectivity features such as wireless Android Auto & Apple CarPlay among others.

Upcoming affordable electric vehicles under Rs 50 lakhs

Getting under the hood, we currently have a 2.0-litre diesel engine that is governed by a 10-speed automatic gearbox and is capable of producing 168bhp and 420Nm of torque. The in-market Endeavour is available with rear-wheel and all-wheel drive. However, we can expect a more power-packed engine with the generation update. We can bank on a larger 2.7-litre diesel unit which will come mated to a 10-speed automatic gearbox. This setup will produce sufficient power to easily take on products like MG Gloster, Toyota Fortuner, etc. that are capable of providing powers in excess of 200bhp currently. This car will launch somewhere around Q1 2022 in India.
