Design

Mahindra XUV700 vs Tata Safari

Talking about the design, the Tata Safari is a seven-seater based on the Tata Harrier. The SUV follows the ‘Impact 2.0’ design language which Tata has been following with almost all modern cars. Safari gets elements like a stepped roof, tri-arrow front grille, HID projector headlamps, LED tail lamps, 18-inch machined alloys, rear spoiler and a shark fin antenna that give it a premium appeal. On the inside, the car gets perforated leather upholstery, a 6-way powered driver seat, an electronic parking brake with Auto Hold, ambient mood lighting and a panoramic sunroof.

The Mahindra XUV700 is based on the Mahindra XUV500. From the spy shots, it becomes evident that the car will be very similar to the XUV500. However, the seven-seater will get its set of unique elements. Long masculine bonnet, huge wrap-around tail lamps, shark fin antenna, spoiler with huge winglets and muscular fenders will give the exterior a premium appeal. On the inside, the car will come with a single-piece display, biggest-in-segment panoramic sunroof (Skyroof), 360-degree sound surround system, captain seats, co-driver seat adjustment lever (a feature similar to Safari’s Boss Mode), D-cut multi-function steering wheel, etc. You can read bout the interiors of the XUV700 in detail by clicking on the link below.

Specifications

New Tata Safari boss mode

The Tata Safari is 4661mm long, 1894mm wide and 1786mm tall. It sits on a wheelbase of 2741mm and has a ground clearance of 205mm. The Safari is made available in 6-seater & 7-seater configurations. Although we do not have the exact dimensions of the XUV700, looking at the spy shots, we are certain that XUV700 will be a big car. The XUV700 will most likely get more space on the inside.

5 reasons Hector Plus buyers should wait for XUV700

The Tata Safari comes powered by a 2.0-litre Kryotec diesel engine that is capable of producing 168bhp and 350Nm of torque. It comes mated with a manual and a torque converter gearbox. As far as the Mahindra is concerned, we expect Mahindra to bring really powerful petrol and diesel engines for the XUV700. We also expect Mahindra engines to be the most powerful in the segment.

Features

Mahindra XUV700 vs Tata Safari

The Tata Safari comes loaded with features like connected car tech, a floating touchscreen infotainment system, a panoramic sunroof, captain seats with Boss Mode, 3rd-row AC vents & charging ports, cruise control, automatic climate control, hill hold, hill descent control, electronic parking brake with auto hold and driving modes. However, Mahindra XUV700 is expected to better Safari with its first-in-class segment features. It will come with features like Auto Booster headlamps, personalized safety alerts, smart door handles and Driver Drowsiness Detection. We are also expecting ADAS with this upcoming seven-seater. Features like wireless charging, drive modes, 360-degree parking camera, etc. will also be made available.

Mahindra XUV700 vs Tata Safari pricing

Tata Safari starts from Rs 18.22 lakh and goes to Rs 26.58 lakh. Though the pricing details of the XUV700 are not known yet, we expect it to start at around the same price. It will be quite a competitive price considering the size and features. This will allow Mahindra to undercut the competition in terms of value for money.
