Maruti’s upcoming compact-SUV has been doing the rounds of the test-circuit for some time now. A direct competitor to the likes of the Ford EcoSport and the Mahindra TUV300, the Maruti YBA (Vitara Brezza) has been spotted yet again, this time in Rajasthan.

Scheduled to be unveiled at the upcoming Auto Expo 2016, in Delhi, the YBA (Vitara Brezza), will come in under the crucial four-metre category. Unconfirmed reports say that the Maruti YBA could be called the iV4 when launched.

On the exterior styling front, Maruti’s designers appear to have taken a restrained approach to things. The dual-section grille at the front, is flanked by what appear to be a projector headlamp setup. The car also gets daytime running lamps (DRL’s) and dark coloured alloys. On the inside, the interior follows an all-black theme which is again, a departure from the usual black & beige combination. No touchscreen navigation system has been reported yet, though it could be offered on the final, production version at launch. Maruti is offering an automatic climate control system on the Vitara Brezza though.

On the engine front, the 1.3 litre DDiS 200 diesel motor from the S-Cross premium crossover would be a direct candidate. Maruti on the other hand, reports say, is contemplating a 1.5 litre engine based on the company’s higher powered 1.6 lite DDiS 32o engine. The 100 bhp power output being spoken about in the same vein would put it smack bang against the Ford EcoSport. It is on the pricing front however that Maruti could pull a massive surprise on the competition. With strong indicators on the bold styling of the Vitara Brezza, the company could very well price it below other offerings in the market. This really would shake things up, if indeed Maruti is able to pull off, giving it an advantage that is sure to leave the competition scrambling to meet up with.
