MG has been doing well with Hector lineup in the Indian market. The Hector Plus is a capable seven-seater that comes loaded with features. It competes with the likes of Hyundai Alcazar and Tata Safari in its segment. Now, a new product is soon going to enter this space. We are talking about the Mahindra XUV700. With the XUV700, Mahindra is looking to disrupt this segment. We have already seen the spy shots and teasers of the XUV700 hinting at an imminent launch. In today’s article, we will take a look at the 5 reasons why MG Hector Plus buyers should wait for the upcoming Mahindra XUV700.
The MG Hector Plus is 4720mm long, 1835mm wide and 1760mm tall. It gets a wheelbase of 2750mm and a ground clearance of 192mm. Although we do not have the exact dimensions of the XUV700, looking at the spy shots, we are certain that XUV700 will be a big car. The XUV700 will most likely get more space on the inside.
The MG Hector comes with a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine, a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine with a hybrid system and a 2.0-litre diesel engine. The petrol engine produces 141bhp and 250Nm of torque whereas the diesel engine produces 168bhp and 350Nm of torque. As far as the Mahindra is concerned, we expect Mahindra to bring really powerful petrol and diesel engines for the XUV700. We also expect Mahindra engines to be the most powerful in the segment.
The Hector Plus comes loaded with features like a 10.4-inch vertical touchscreen infotainment system, voice-enabled panoramic sunroof, heated ORVMs, connected car tech, front parking sensors and a 360-degree camera being some of the key ones. But the XUV700 is expected to better the Hector Plus with its first-in-class segment features. It will come with features like Auto Booster headlamps, personalized safety alerts, smart door handles, Driver Drowsiness Detection and the biggest panoramic sunroof in the segment. We are also expecting ADAS with this upcoming seven-seater.
Larger service network
MG has come a long way after its launch in India, but its service network is still mostly restricted to urban areas. Mahindra being an Indian manufacturer has its service centre in every nook and corner of the country. XUV700 can greatly benefit from Mahindra’s large service network.
MG Hector Plus starts from Rs 16.07 lakh and goes to Rs 23.88 lakh (on-road, Mumbai). Though the pricing details of the XUV700 are not known yet, we expect it to start at around the same price. It will be quite a competitive price considering the size and features. This will allow Mahindra to undercut the competition in terms of value for money.
