Mahindra has been quickly moving towards expanding its SUV portfolio in the country. The brand recently launched the Mahindra Bolero Neo in the country. It is a modern avatar of the iconic Bolero and is perfectly suited for customers who want something extra over what the Bolero currently offers. After this, the brand plans to launch its premium 7-seater, the XUV700. The car will take on products like Hyundai Alcazar, Tata Safari and MG Hector Plus. Along with these products, the brand has a lot planned for the future. To give a solid base to its plan, the company has invested Rs 12,000 crore. In today’s article, we will look at this Mahindra Rs 12000 crore plan and how the company is planning to spend it.
What is this Mahindra Rs 12000 crore plan?
Mahindra, as mentioned above, is looking to further expand its portfolio in the country. The brand will direct this capital towards launching new products, new variants as well as updating the existing ones. Mahindra will launch a total of 23 products in the next five years. Out of these, 9 will be SUVs (in the passenger car market) and the rest 14 would be Light Commercial Vehicles (LCV). This plan will help Mahindra improve its traction in the market, especially in the passenger vehicle space that is currently being led by brands like Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai and Tata.
What will the 9 SUV plan look like?
Mahindra, as mentioned above, has planned to invest a part of the capital to bring 9 new SUVs to the country. Cars like the upcoming XUV700, Thar 5-door, new-generation Scorpio, new-generation Bolero and new-generation XUV300 will be a part of this. Along with this, four more products, codenamed, W620, V201, Born EV1 and Born EV2 will also be a part of this five-year plan. Out of these, W620 is expected to be the brand’s first coupe SUV, which most probably will be called XUV900. This product will be based on the XUV Aero concept that was showcased in Auto Expo and will share multiple parts with the upcoming XUV700. The V201, on the other hand, is mostly expected to be the next-generation XUV500 that will come to compete in the C-SUV segment and will directly compete with products like Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos.
