Mahindra recently launched the Bolero Neo in India. The Bolero Neo is essentially an updated TUV300, repositioned as a modern and more feature-packed variant within the Bolero range. Through Bolero Neo, Mahindra is looking to give Bolero customers an alternative option that caters to the needs of modern buyers. The pricing of the Bolero starts from Rs 10.12 lakh (on-road, Mumbai). For this article, we will be focusing on the base variant N4 and look in brief if this Mahindra Bolero Neo variant is a good buy.
Mahindra Bolero Neo base variant design
The Mahindra Bolero Neo gets smooth edges to make it look more premium than the Bolero. The overall dimensions remain the same for all the variants. The N4 variant gets X-shaped body-coloured bumpers, signature Bolero side cladding and body-coloured X-type spare wheel cover.
Interiors and features
The Bolero Neo comes with beige interiors and gets a modern dashboard design. The N4 variants come with features like rear parking sensors, all power windows, central locking and a 12V charging socket to name a few. In terms of safety, the Bolero Neo offers dual airbags, ABS with EBD, cornering brake control and engine immobiliser as some key features.
Engine and Performance
The Bolero Neo gets a 1.5-litre diesel engine (with Micro Hybrid technology). The engine produces 100bhp and 260Nm of torque. The Bolero Neo comes mated with a 5-speed manual gearbox. It gets electronic start-stop technology as well as Eco drive mode for maximising fuel efficiency.
Should you buy it?
The base variant (N4) of the Bolero Neo is similar in mechanical capabilities when compared to the currently available top-of-the-line variant (N10). The only things that it lacks are features. These features can be added through the aftermarket route, given you do care a lot about elements like a touchscreen infotainment system, alloy wheels, etc. With that being said, it gets all the safety features that the top variant gets, except for an ISOFIX child mount. Overall, the Bolero Neo N4 variant is a great package and a value for the money option if you are interested in its capabilities and do not care much about features.
