The Maruti Vitara Brezza is one of the best selling cars in the compact-SUV segment. However, it has started ageing since it is also one of the oldest cars in its segment. It is facing stiff competition from competitors like Kia Sonet, Tata Nexon, Nissan Magnite, etc. that are either new or have been frequently updated. With no major generation change brought for the Brezza, the car feels a bit old. So, Maruti is looking to bring in the new generation of this car as soon as possible. Here are 5 things that the brand has to update on the new Maruti Vitara Brezza.

Exterior

New Maruti Vitara Brezza

The new Maruti Vitara Brezza will get a new look, but the overall boxy nature of the car will remain. The new generation car will get new body panels and 17-inch alloy wheels with an updated design. New headlamps and taillamps are expected to give it a more modern look.

Interior

Maruti Vitara Brezza Interiors

One of the biggest problems with the current Vitara Brezza is its interiors. The interiors feel too bland and basic for a car in this segment. To address this, Maruti may add more soft-touch materials and new upholstery with better ergonomics. Light colour interiors might also work making the interior look more spacious.

Platform

New Maruti Vitara Brezza

The current Vitara Brezza is based on Suzuki’s Global C platform. In the next generation, the car will be based on the Heartect platform on which all the new Maruti cars are based. It remains to be seen if this new platform can retain the 4-star safety rating of the current Brezza.

Features

Currently, Brezza is the least feature-loaded car in the segment, but that will change in the new generation. The new Brezza will get a bigger touchscreen with all the latest connectivity options and rear AC vents. Other features provided may include rear charging slots, cooled glove box and ambient lighting.

New engines

Maruti had to ditch their diesel engines due to stringent BS6 norms. Now Maruti is working on a BS6 compliant diesel engine. The Brezza might be the first car to get this new engine. The engine will be a 1.5-litre diesel engine. Along with this, we are also expecting a hybrid engine with the new Brezza. This will surely help it take a lead over the competition.
